Pyramids are part of ancient culture and civilization. When you heard the word pyramid, the very first think that must come to your mind is the one that is located in Egypt, along with its historical stories. However, pyramids are also part of global phenomenon. Hence, you can find several ancient pyramids all over the world. There are many things that make pyramids interesting to visit such as their majestic structures. Located in archaeological sites, pyramids have that factor that make people want to pay a visit. And here are several ancient pyramids around the world that still remain:

Pyramid of the Sun

This pyramid is located in Teotihuacan, the central city of Mexico. It has intriguing structures with massive steps. It is a 240 foot-tall pyramid, constructed in five layers. The main material used to construct this structure was hewed tezontle, which was a red coarse volcanic rock of the region. Another interesting part of this pyramid is its 248 uneven stair steps leading to the top of the structure. This pyramid still hold mystery as to who built it and the purpose was. 

Prang Temple

This pyramid is located in one of the most ancient cities in Cambodia, Koh Ker. The city itself is home to almost 100 temples that are still standing. Prang Temple is one of the ancient structures that still remain in this site. It was built under Jayavarman IV reign. It is a 188 foot-tall pyramid with only few of beautiful sculptures left. Some of them have been looted or placed in museums. This place is not very known so not many tourists know their way to reach this pyramid. 

Tomb of the General

This pyramid is located in China, precisely in Ji’an. This place is not only historical to China but also to Korea and Mongolia. This place is a burial of King Jangsu, the 20th rulers of Goguryeo, which was one of the Three Kingdom of Korea. This place itself stretches from Mongolia to Chungju. This place is also called ‘The Pyramid Of East’ and stands at 43 foot-tall. The structure is composed of 1.100 dressed stone blocks which is the typical of Goguryeo culture. It was then transmitted to the Kingdom of Baekje’s burial practices. 

Pyramid of Khufu

This structure is located in Egypt, one of the best places to find ancient pyramids. Pyramids of Giza is not the only ancient structure popular in Egypt. Pyramid of Khufu was built for Pharoah Khufu, also known as the Great Pyramid. It is the only remaining wonder of the ancient world and the largest man-made structure. It contains around 2,300,000 blocks and has mysterious interior chambers. There are so many things that have been unknown about this majestic structure.
