Camping is one of the most favorite outdoor activities for many people especially kids. They love the experience of sleeping in the open along with many adventurous activities to try. However camping as a kid and as adult is pretty difference. Kids mostly don’t think about many things and just enjoy the moment. However, camping as an adult requires you to plan and do everything yourself and it can be daunting.

7 Survival tips to have a smooth camping experience

It’s recommended to experience camping as an adult at least once in your lifetime since it brings meaningful memory and lesson. Here are 7 survival tips for you who want to experience camping for the first time as an adult:

Research the campsite

It’s essential to do a research about your destination or campsite beforehand. You want to make sure that you are going to camp in a safe place. Read the rules and warnings to ensure your safety. You can opt for more popular campsite if it’s your first time to camp.

Pack the right necessities

There’s plenty of camping necessities you need to pack including insect repellent, a torch, lantern, sunscreen, headlamp, lighter, warm jacket, towel, comfortable clothes, swimming costume, and toilet paper.

Pack your comforts

To make your camping experience more enjoyable, pack your comforts such as something that helps you relax, a gadget, a book, a portable speaker, an air mattress, or a selfie stick. However, make sure to not overdo it because you might only use one of them.

Pack the right foods

Foods are essential for camping because those are what you need to survive. If your campsite is close to a local market you probably don’t have to worry about foods since you can just buy them. However, you need to pack enough foods to last the entire duration of your camp if your campsite is pretty secluded from civilization. You can pack breads, butter, salt and pepper, sandwiches, biscuits, or pre-cooked meals. Pack also some garbage bags, cutlery, and water.

Follow the rules

During your time in the campsite, make sure to follow the rules. For example, do not wander to places that are prohibited by the staffs. Stay inside allowed areas to ensure your safety. You can explore the places and try various activities such as swimming in the lakes, trekking to certain points, etc.

Do not touch wildlife

Make sure that whatever activities you do won’t cause any harm to the environment and yourself. If you encounter wildlife, do not interact with them such as feeding or petting them no matter how cute they may look.

Enjoy the moments

Try to enjoy it as much as you can and stay with positive attitude during camping. Plan activities for you and your group to have fun together. Try to be in tune with each other and build open communication. For example, let the others know if you are in pain or upset about something. Try to work together to make the most memorable and enjoyable camping experience as adult.
